INSTA Host  is committed  to making Web Hosting Eco-Friendly!

For this reason we align all of our business operations to fall within in the following criteria:

  • All of our servers should be 100% powered by renewable source energy wherever possible, or the CO2 from traditional power solutions off-set.
  • Data Centre conditions must be 'green', including eco-friendly fire suppression, climate control and backup power sources.
  • No customer should ever feel confused about their needs, nor should they feel under pressure to purchase.
  • We should aim to reduce the value of each sale as far as possible, we shall do this by explaining to a customer how much space they need before making a sale.
  • Customer Services should be prompt, accurate and explained in plain english. A customer should never have to contact us to follow up a query.
  • INSTA Host cares about the environment and our clients, customers should feel happy to be with us.

INSTA Host is part of the INSTAPRISE Solutions Group, our mission statement is:

'INSTAPRISE -  Solutions which doesn't cost the Earth'

Regardless of the position you may care to take on Global Storming and Climate Change, most of us agree that there is a growing need to live a more sustainable lifestyle and acknowledge the need to reduce Carbon emissions to increasing energy efficiency.  The diverse range of companies making attempts to reduce their carbon footprints is growing by the day.

WebHosting is not naturally Eco-Friendly.......  the average server produces the same emissions as a 15mpg  SUV/4 x 4 vehicle, housed in a datacentre which may consume as much electricity as 30,000 households - put another way - your website may be housed on a server which may produce around 12 and a half Tonnes of CO2 each year!

Our Hosting Technologies

INSTA Host has data centres in the UK and the USA, each datacentre  is powered differently - although each meets our stringent criteria:

USA DATA CENTRE

INSTA host  is predominantely powered from the AISO data-center in sunny California. The data center itself has an environmentally friendly design using recycled and environmentally friendly materials. It is completely steel framed with no wood at all except for the door frames on the interior of the building. The walls are over 12 inches thick and filled with insulation that has recycled content.

The entire infrastructure was purpose built to use the lowest amount of energy possible using the latest "green design" techniques - no other data center can do what they do without starting from scratch. The center even uses solar tubes to bring in natural sunlight which eliminates the use for conventional lighting during the day. The cooling systems are air and water cooled which reduces the amount of electricity needed for greedy refrigeration units.

UK  Data Centres

We have datacentres in London and Manchester,  unfortunately the eco credentials of data centres in the UK are not as advanced as in the USA and in order to meet our requirements we purchase "Credits" to offset the carbon use.  We accept that this is not an ideal situation and are continually looking at improving this.  However, presently we employ two completely different systems to ensure that through the credit system we are not only Carbon Neutral BUT actually Carbon Positive.

We carefully calculate the carbon emissions of our servers, and ensure that significantly more than this total is absorbed by our trees, planted  in Ransom Wood Business Park in Nottinghamshire and RECs purchasing Windpower credits.

INSTA Host  provides users with Green badges for to display on your website and show you really care about the impact your website has on the environment.
