Cloud hosting · Since 2009

Nobody should share a server in 2026.

Shared hosting was built in the 1990s and belongs there. InstaHost moved to auto-balanced cloud in 2009 — your site draws on a whole platform, not one machine. And if you outgrow your plan, we don't take you offline.

Chart showing website traffic rising above a plan limit. Most hosts return a 503 or 508 error and force an upgrade. InstaHost keeps the site online and contacts you, with no charge for a temporary spike.

Cloud hosting spreads your website across a pool of servers instead of confining it to one. If a neighbouring site gets a traffic spike, yours doesn't slow down — load rebalances automatically. Shared hosting can't do that, because everyone is on the same machine.

InstaHost cloud hosting starts at £3.50/mo (billed annually) and includes a free CDN, free wildcard SSL, daily backups and free migration. It has run on 100% renewable energy since 1996.

Shared hosting: one server, one point of failure. Insta Cloud: your site uses the platform.
The Flexible Limit Control Guarantee

We will not take your website down
for being successful.

This is the part nobody else will put in writing. Go over your limits on most hosts and you get a 503, a 508, or an invoice. Here's what happens with us.

Most hosts
  1. Your post goes viral on a Tuesday.
  2. You hit your bandwidth ceiling at 3pm.
  3. Your site starts returning 503 / 508 errors.
  4. Traffic you waited years for hits a dead page.
  5. You upgrade under pressure, permanently.
InstaHost
  1. Your post goes viral on a Tuesday.
  2. We average your usage — we don't read one spike as a new baseline.
  3. Your site stays up. Every visitor lands.
  4. We contact you and ask what's happening.
  5. Temporary peak? No charge. No forced upgrade.

We are not being generous. We're being commercial. A customer whose big day we ruined leaves. A customer whose big day we protected stays for a decade — and we've been doing this for thirty years, so we know which one pays better.

Plans

Three plans. Real numbers.

No "unlimited" — there's no such thing, and every host that says it enforces a ceiling in the small print. These are the actual limits. The guarantee above is what happens if you reach them.

Questions

Straight answers.

What's the difference between shared hosting and cloud hosting?

Shared hosting puts many customers on one physical server. You share that machine's CPU, memory and disk with everyone else on it — so if a neighbour's site spikes, yours slows down. Cloud hosting spreads your site across a pool of servers, so it draws on the whole platform and load rebalances automatically. We moved off shared hosting in 2009.

What happens if I go over my plan's limits?

We don't take your site down. Under the Flexible Limit Control Guarantee we average your usage over time, keep you online, and contact you to talk about it. If it's a temporary spike — a viral post, Black Friday, a press mention — there's no charge and no forced upgrade. Most hosts return a 503 or 508 and make you upgrade on the spot.

Why don't you offer "unlimited" storage or bandwidth?

Because there's no such thing. Every host advertising "unlimited" enforces a real ceiling in its acceptable use policy — you just don't find out where it is until you hit it. We publish our actual numbers, and we've written down what happens if you exceed them. We think that's the more honest version of the same promise.

How much does cloud hosting cost?

Pay monthly or annually. Monthly: Essential £3.50/mo, Advanced £4.99/mo, Professional £9.99/mo. Annually: £25.00, £49.90 and £99.90 respectively. Prices exclude VAT.

Whichever you pick is what you renew at. No introductory discount, no year-two jump.

Can I pay monthly, or do I have to pay for the year?

Either. Monthly is rolling — £3.50/mo for Essential, and it renews at £3.50/mo for as long as you stay.

Annual is ten months' price for twelve months' hosting. Essential is £25.00 rather than the £30.00 you'd pay across twelve monthly payments, so you save £5.00. There's no lock-in either way, and no penalty for choosing monthly.

Is the CDN really free?

Yes. We built the Insta Global CDN ourselves in 2019, so there's no third party to pay. It's included on every plan. Most hosts either charge for a CDN or send you to Cloudflare.

Will you migrate my site for me?

Yes, free, with no downtime. We move web files, databases and email, including direct transfers from cPanel/WHM, Plesk, WordPress, Fasthosts and Heart Internet.

Is InstaHost cloud hosting renewable?

Yes — 100% renewable since 1996. Data centres are ISO 14001 certified and run at PUE 1.2. We plant a tree for every account through Ecologi and put 1% of revenue into carbon removal.

When should I move to a VPS instead?

When you need root access, a custom stack, or guaranteed dedicated CPU. Cloud hosting suits most business websites and shops perfectly well — and we'll tell you honestly when you've outgrown it rather than selling you a VPS you don't need.
